The airport lounge war is heating up. Two years after Chase announced its foray into the airport lounge market, the financial institution is finally about to cut the ribbon on its first Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club in the US, at Boston Logan airport (BOS). The club will open on Tuesday, May 16, at 5 am.
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is Chase’s response to the wildly popular American Express Centurion Lounges and Capital One Lounges. To deliver on the promise of an upscale, exclusive space for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, the credit card issuer has partnered with Collinson, the company behind the ubiquitous Priority Pass airport lounge access program, and its subsidiary Airport Dimensions, the operator of “The Club” lounges at US domestic airports.
The road to the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club has been long and bumpy. Chase announced its lounge lineup back in June 2021. In October 2022, the bank opened an unannounced lounge at Hong Kong airport (HKG), but it turned out to be a co-branded space rather than a dedicated lounge for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers. Early 2023, Chase unveiled the Chase Sapphire Terrace at Austin Bergstrom airport (AUS), a spruced-up outdoor deck which isn’t a full-service lounge.
The Boston Logan location is the first true incarnation of Chase’s vision. Here’s what guests can look forward to.

Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club Boston location and hours
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan airport (BOS) will be located between gates B39 and B40, in the Terminal B to C Connector. The club will be open daily between 5 am and 11 pm.
Terminal B is served by Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Boutique Air, Southwest, Spirit, and United. Terminal B is connected airside (post-security) to Terminal C (Aer Lingus, Cape Air, JetBlue, TAP Air Portugal) and Terminal E (most foreign carriers), but it’s a long walk from Terminal E.
Delta and WestJet operate out of Terminal A, which is not connected to Terminals B, C, and E. Passengers departing from Terminal A are welcome to use the lounge, but they’ll need to exit and then re-clear security in order to reach their terminal.
Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club Boston design
Spreading over 11,640 square feet, the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan airport sports a warm and inviting decor inspired by storied city of Boston.
The design incorporates natural materials (wood, brass), an intimate and comforting color palette, and bespoke furniture such as handcrafted natural wood tables and upholstered booth seats in the bar area.
The club features several areas for work, dining, and relaxation. At the heart of the lounge, the dramatic signature bar is the centerpiece of the design—an eye-catching piece inspired by Boston’s lively bar and dining scene. The relaxation area sports a more modern décor with smooth lines, expansive windows overlooking the tarmac and the Boston Harbor, and power outlets at arm’s length. Tucked away to the side, two spa-inspired wellness rooms feature a more serene residential design.
The lounge doubles as an art gallery, with a collection of works by Boston-based Afro-Caribbean muralist Silvia López Chavez, and pieces borrowed from the JPMorgan Chase & Co. art collection, including work from emerging artists Cig Harvey, Pelle Cass, Gohar Dashti and Daniel Gordon.
Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club Boston food and beverages
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan airport will boast an elaborate culinary offering, including seven dishes created by award-winning Boston Chef Douglass Williams, the mastermind behind the MIDA Newton and APIZZA restaurants in Boston’s South End neighborhood.
Guests will be able to choose from an array of ready-to-eat dishes from the buffet, or request made-to-order options by scanning the QR code at their seat.
A sample of dishes from Chef Douglass Williams includes: Beef meatball Parmesan sandwich with San Marzano tomato sauce and provolone; Shrimp risotto Milanese with Saffron and Parmesan; Chilled gazpacho with vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers, and sourdough breadcrumbs; Sticky buffalo chicken with chilled coleslaw and blue cheese dip; and Whipped lemon-mascarpone parfait with whole berry jam and honey granola.
Other menu items include the Sapphire burger; Miracle Dandan noodles with smoked tofu, shiitake mushrooms, and shirataki noodles; and a cheesy bao bun.
The soft drink selection will include soda, seasonal sparkling tea, cold brew coffee, and espresso drinks. Unfortunately, the Chase Sapphire Lounge will not offer handcrafted coffee drinks, a feature that’s becoming more popular on the airport lounge scene.
Guests will also be able to order a variety of wine and cocktails, or sample local craft beer at the lounge’s own taproom.
Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club Boston amenities
In addition to a substantial food and beverage selection, the Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston will feature a few notable high-end amenities.
Guests who wish to freshen up will find two shower rooms stocked with Apotheke products, while those who are seeking a moment of relaxation will be able to enjoy two private rooms with anti-gravity massage chairs and guided meditations. The showers and massage chairs are both available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who has access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan airport?
Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers who have activated their Priority Pass benefit will receive unlimited complimentary visits to the Chase Sapphire Lounge at Boston airport, and will be able to bring two guests on a complimentary basis.
To visit the lounge, customers will need to present their Priority Pass card. The Chase Sapphire Reserve card alone will not suffice.
Priority Pass members who are not Chase Sapphire Reserve card customers will be able to visit a domestic Sapphire Lounge by The Club location one time at no cost per calendar year. There will be a charge for any extra visits. Concretely, this means that customers who have purchased a retail Priority Pass membership or have obtained a membership through one of Chase’s competitors (such as the Capital One Venture X card and The Platinum Card by American Express) will be granted a free “teaser” visit meant to encourage them to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. (Priority Pass members can also visit The Lounge in Terminal B, as well as the Air France Lounge in Terminal E.)
Finally, customers who are not Priority Pass members may buy their way in for $100 per person, subject to availability.
Chase’s convoluted lounge access policy
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan airport will be the financial institution’s third airport lounge worldwide. Current locations include the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club Hong Kong and the Chase Sapphire Terrace at Austin Bergstrom airport.
So far, each lounge has unique access policies:
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge Hong Kong is a regular Priority Pass lounge. The club welcomes all Priority Pass members, regardless of credit card affiliation. To visit the Chase Sapphire Lounge HKG, customers must present their Priority Pass card.
- The Chase Sapphire Terrace at Austin airport is an exclusive amenity for Chase Sapphire Reserve card holders. Customers must present their credit card; Priority Pass is not accepted.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston is a Priority Pass benefit for Chase Sapphire Reserve card holders. To visit the Chase Sapphire Lounge BOS, customers must present their Priority Pass card. Priority Pass members who are not Chase Sapphire Reserve card members will receive access once per year on a complimentary basis.
The complexity of the rules reflects the fragmented nature of the Chase lounge ecosystem.
- The Hong Kong location was an opportunistic co-branding opportunity hastily developed in partnership with Collinson, the parent company of Priority Pass. The access rules reflect the fact that there aren’t enough Chase Sapphire Reserve customers traveling through Hong Kong to support a lounge.
- The Sapphire Terrace at Austin airport was created outside the bank’s partnership with Collinson and thus does not participate in the Priority Pass network.
- The new Chase Sapphire Lounge BOS is the first “true” Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club location, and aims at competing with American Express Centurion Lounges and Capital One Lounges, while capitalizing on Collinson’s experience. Future domestic Chase Sapphire Lounges will all have the same access rules as the Boston lounge.
Regardless of the rationale, the rules are incredibly complex, and bound to create confusion. What are the upcoming Chase Sapphire Lounge locations?
The burgeoning Chase Sapphire Lounge network is expected to include 8 locations in the continental US and in Hong Kong.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at Hong Kong airport (HKG) opened in October 2022.
- The Chase Sapphire Terrace at Austin Bergstrom airport (AUS) opened in March 2023.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at San Diego International Airport (SAN) is scheduled to open in November 2023, and will be located in Terminal 2, between gates 46 and 47.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at Las Vegas Harry Reid airport (LAS) will be located in Terminal 1, by the C gates.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at New York LaGuardia airport (LGA) will be located in Terminal B.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at Philadelphia airport (PHL) will be located in the Terminal D/E connector.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport (PHX) will be located in Terminal 4.
- The Chase Sapphire Lounge by the Club at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) will be located in Concourse A.
Bottom line
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan airport will open on Tuesday, May 16.
Located in Terminal B, a stone’s throw away from Terminal C, the 11,640 square foot Chase Sapphire Lounge BOS will boast an elegant bespoke décor, elevated culinary offerings curated by Boston chef Douglass Williams, a taproom offering local craft beers, a relaxation room with anti-gravity massage chairs, and two shower rooms.
The space will feature views of the Boston Harbor and pieces from the JPMorgan Chase & Co. art collection.
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at BOS will welcome Priority Pass members who are also Chase Sapphire card holders. Members will be able to bring two guests. (The Chase Sapphire card comes with a complimentary Priority Pass membership.) Priority Pass members who are not Chase Sapphire card holders will be able to visit domestic Chase Sapphire Lounge locations once a year on a complimentary basis.
While we have yet to experience the lounge in person, The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club appears to be major step above the run-of-the-mill The Club airport lounges which are open to all Priority Pass members. That being said, the six other promised locations will need to materialize soon if Chase wants to be a contender in the airport lounge space.
