The Travel Club Lounge launched in November 2015, offers a soothing, fresh, vibrant ambiance that has been created to give domestic passengers a world class experience. The design has been derived keeping the elements of the plush GVK Lounge by TFS and Performa at T2 in line with the international terminal ambience and its finer details.
The Tree of Life concept is sacred to most cultures. Its significance transcends conscious reality, touching the subconscious and beyond the indefinable. It retains an unconscious link with our primeval memory and becomes a source of strength. The presence of a tree signifies water, growth, and fecundity – hence it is seen as the Tree of Life.
White textured marble is used in various ways- as a screen at the entrance as well as the Tree of life on the wall. 30ft long sculptural ceiling light designed by the award winning Indian artisans, created with different handmade paper from the green forest of India , which have been crushed artistically. These focal elements sooth the weary traveler as they look for a few minutes of rest to rejuvenate themselves.
The well stocked ‘U’ shaped island bar with the Video wall , at the entrance forms the focus of the space. The rich Italian travertine /Black silver portoro marble , fumed oak veneer of the bar draws the customer as soon as they walk in. Gold metal lamps again created especially for the space ,fitting in well with the burgundy leather Chesterfield arm chairs.
The lounge is split into various areas including the niche at the entrance show casing periodicals and the cultural and heritage coffee table books on India, the’ U ‘shaped island bar , spa, quiet zones, workstations and buffet area with generous aisles for ease of movement of stroller bags
Demarcation of quiet zones from the active zones have been done by the use of graceful wooden partitions- which also support the tree themed lamps. These semi open partitions give the illusion of space as the entire lounge can be seen at one time and yet giving the passengers privacy. There are large comfortable sofas, with side tables and charging points for phones/laptops.
The Large buffet- with cold counter and warm plates with induction tops is at the rear end, in an all white zone to keep the calm atmosphere. This effect is achieved by using easy to maintain materials like white corian and toughened back painted glass for this high traffic zone.
A fully equipped office center is at one end of the quiet zone. This area has a sound absorbing fabric paneling on the wall, carrying our tree of life theme forward.
The toilets are designed with Charcoal grey Italian marble with sufficient stalls and mood lighting.
