The Air China Premium Lounge at Dalian airport is located across gate 23, immediately next to the China Eastern lounge. Given its small footprint, the club can accommodates very few customers. Expect the staff to make every attempt to redirect Star Alliance Gold passengers to the airport’s much larger First Class Lounge next to gate 26.
Air China Premium Lounge DLC design
The Air China Lounge is a pocket lounge, with seating for just over 20 passengers. The confined, window-less, and overheated space, provides just enough space for a few seats, a buffet area, and a handful of dining tables. Despite the lack of real estate and limitations of the physical space, the club is beautifully appointed, and boasts Air China’s new design conceived by JPA Design, which can also be seen at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3D.
Timelessly elegant, the décor features a curved wooden partition which carves out a dining area, brand new furniture including high-backed chairs, all outfitted with pillows; a gorgeous marble floor, and trendy light accents.
With just a few seats at the periphery of the lounge, and a handful of dining tables in the center, the club provides ample privacy. Unfortunately, power outlets are lacking, which is unfortunate for a brand new lounge. A few can be found along the walls.
Air China Premium Lounge DLC amenities
Due to space constraints, the Air China Premium Lounge at Dalian airport offers only a set of essential amenities, along with a limited buffet selection.
Patrons will find a minimalistic shrink-wrapper snack selection, along with a few extras such as a yili yoghurt dispenser and instant noodles. Self-service drinks include espresso, teas, and two wine options.
By the reception desk are two shared computers and a massaging chair. Air China also provides access to a dedicated secure Wi-Fi network; inquire with the receptionist for the access credentials. A selection of newspapers and magazines is also available.
The two elegantly furnished bathroom stalls, one for each gender, come with a sink, fresh flowers, and plenty of space to change.
Air China Premium Lounge DLC bottom line
Air China’s Premium Lounge at Dalian international airport highlights the airline’s efforts to maintain a token presence at an airport dominated by China Eastern. The lounge design and finishes are gorgeous. On the other hand, the space itself is severely under-dimensioned and lacks windows, and the food spread is virtually non-existent. Air China, like most airlines, directs the bulk of their customers to the much more spacious First Class Lounge operated by the airport. Given the two options, there are few reasons to choose to use the Air China lounge overall, except for the opportunity to enjoy exquisite calm and privacy, especially outside Air China flight times.
- The elegant design.
- The comfortable and private seats.
- The small footprint of the space.
- The lack of daylight.
- The meager food selection.
