Swing and a miss! It might’ve been a nice option somewhere like SFO, but not AUS.
Very limited seating inside; most of the seating is outside on the terrace. Food and drink options are limited to canned drinks, chips, and jarred salads and sandwiches out of a vending machine. The people here are nice though.
It’s not a lounge but a terrace! Nice plane spotting and decent drinks with pre-packaged food that is tasty. It’s the space that was available to them at the time, I’m sure they’ll move after airport renovations.
Most of the lounge is outside, horrible in Texas heat. Only a couple of drinks and minimal snacks.
Worthless. The greyhound bus station is more pleasant. All seats are outside and even if the temp happens to be tolerable, the jet noise and exhaust is not. The person who thought of this lounge should be tarred and feathered
This lounge is a joke. I will second all of the opinions expressed by Bob the Traveller.
I believe there are five or six awkwardly places indoor chairs in what is essentially the entrance/bar/food area. So even if you happen to grab one of those chairs, it is such a busy area that you can’t relax. Now add to that ridiculousness the fact that they have two vending machines for food. When I was there at 6pm on a Wednesday, there where three items available in the vending machines. And to be clear, I don’t me three options of items to choose from, I mean three items left in both machines (two yogurts and a salad). I could understand if it was a Saturday night shortly before closing, but it was a relatively slow Wednesday evening.
Also, this is Austin! Disregarding the sad/cramped few chairs inside (why even bother), this is an outdoor lounge at an airport..IN OPPRESSIVELY HOT AND HUMID AUSTIN!!! Whose idea was it to put this outside? Completely useless lounge.
I have several premium credit cards (translation, the Priority Pass benefit is available through several other cards) and the Sapphire Reserve is always in question about its value. I have never visited another Sapphire lounge. However, based on this experience, and the fact that there is very little that is special anymore about the Reserve card, I am strongly considering downgrading my card (to keep my points).
If you enjoy sitting outside in Austin, with the noise and smell of jets all around, this place is for you. Otherwise, go anywhere else.
Someone thought having a primarily outdoor terrace in a city where the temperatures routinely exceed 100 degrees in the summer (which lasts for half the year) was a brilliant idea. It’s not.
Someone also thought not having it open in the morning (closed until 10AM), when it would be most suited to visit given those conditions, was a great idea. It’s not.
The staff is great, the offerings are also very nice, but you melt during most of the hours it’s open. And the inside is tiny and fills quickly.
