The BCAT Lounge at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3 is located within the Hourly Hotel, a transit facility situated within Concourse E. The Hourly Hotel offers the use of their lounge area to pay-in customers as well as select members of lounge access programs.
To reach the BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge, locate gate E10, enter the hotel lobby across the gate, then take the elevator to the third floor where the check-in desk, bar and lounge are located.
BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge PEK design
The reception area of the Hourly Hotel at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3E, where the BCAT Lounge is located, sports a traditional design which may make the modern western traveler cringe. The dubious alliance of reds and yellows, overstuffed armchairs, coffee tables with checkered cloth, and large ceiling fan are a blast from the past in an otherwise resolutely modern terminal.
In addition to individual seats with large coffee tables, there are also four dining tables for two which double as convenient work spaces.
Built before electronic devices became ubiquitous, the BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge lacks power outlets.
The room also lacks windows, and thus daylight, although it as the advantage of being particularly quiet: unlike the other lounges in Concourse E which are located on open-air mezzanines, the Hourly Hotel is fully enclosed.
BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge PEK amenities
The HBCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3E is meant as a relaxation, social, and work space for hotel guests. Pay-in customers will find meals at meal times; all other services are available for a fee.
The all-day buffet is limited to a meager assortment of shrink-wrapped snacks, hot tea, instant coffee, and a weak soda selection. There is no bottled water. At meal times, patrons will also find several hot entrees.
Alcoholic beverages are available from the bar at a cost.
Secure complimentary Wi-Fi is available; the password is posted throughout the lounge. Interestingly, connecting to Wi-Fi is a painless experience and no personal authentication is required. In contrast, the public Wi-Fi network in the terminal and all airline lounges require a code which can only be obtained by scanning a passport or boarding pass.
A variety of additional services are available for a fee including conference room reservations, Concierge services, showers, and private rooms. The shower rooms, located in the hallway leading to the hotel rooms, are nevertheless unlocked and thus usable by any guests who happen to have a towel. While hardly luxurious, the facilities are perfectly functional.
BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge PEK bottom line
The BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3 Concourse E ranks at the bottom of our chart. The faded décor, virtually non-existent amenities, lack of power outlets, and up-charge for most services including showers and alcoholic beverages make the Business Travelers Lounge an unlikely choice when substantially superior alternatives are available.
Located a stone’s throw away, the BGS Premier Lounge, also open to all passengers for a fee, features cooked-to-order food, complimentary beverages, and showers. Priority Pass members may also consider the Air China First Class lounge, a serene open-space with a generous buffet and private sleeping rooms.
On the bright side, assuming that your devices are charged up, the BCAT Hourly Hotel Lounge does provide a quieter work environment than the open-air mezzanine lounges in Concourse E.
- The quiet environment.
- The hot buffet at meal times.
- The ugly décor and lack of daylight.
- The lack of power outlets.
- The up-charge for alcohol and showers.

Overall ratings
This lounge near gate 10 is amount the worst I’ve encountered. The lounge and the rooms have not been maintained. It’s dirty. The food and drink selection is dreadful.
Avoid a long transit in PEK, it’s an empty wasteland.
