Operated by TAV Operations, a Turkish airport operator and ground handling services company, the primeclass Lounge at Muscat airport is open 24 hours a day. The club is situated a short walk from the security checkpoint, above Duty Free, on the 5th floor, opposite the Aerotel in-terminal hotel.
The primeclass Lounge welcomes most premium airline customers (with the exception of Oman Air passengers who are invited to visit the Oman Air Business and First Class Lounges), as well as holders of popular membership cards such as Priority Pass and LoungeKey, and all passengers on a pay-in basis.
primeclass Lounge MCT design
The sprawling primeclass Lounge at Muscat airport is TAV’s largest airport club worldwide, and can easily accommodate hundreds of guests.
The decor of the primeclass Lounge draws its inspiration from Oman’s architecture and landscapes. The designers have incorporated traditional Omani geometric patterns, artwork that reflects the local culture and heritage, and a color palette which evokes the country’s expansive desert and striking white monuments.
From the opulent lobby, which doubles as an art gallery, guests make their way into a softly lit hallway in the shape of a pointed arch, inspired by Oman’s traditional architecture and Muscat’s celebrated opera house. Horse-shoe shaped arches then lead to the various seating, dining, relaxation, and recreation areas.
The main seating area boasts slanted cathedral ceilings, a dramatic window wall, and a variety of seating options providing ample space for passengers to work or relax. Guests have their choice of traditional lounge chairs, dining tables, shared work tables, sofas, and high-backed chairs, all with power and USB outlets at arm’s length.
Beyond the buffet area is a second quiet zone furnished with plush sofas, armchairs, and recliners.
The large windows allow natural light to flood the space, providing a sense of openness and airiness, while the soft neutral colors create a serene and calming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the lounge overlooks the terminal building, and lacks noteworthy tarmac views.
primeclass Lounge MCT amenities
The primeclass Lounge at Muscat airport offers an outstanding portfolio of amenities that rivals the world’s best business and first class lounges.
The elevated food and beverage selection aims at satisfying a diverse clientele with varying tastes and dietary needs.
The culinary team places an emphasis on local specialties, including hummus and Arabic bread, as well as Indian dishes such as butter chicken, chicken masala, and biryani, which come accompanied with a remarkable array of spices and accoutrements.
Guests will also find international fare, a selection of comfort foods, a salad bar, as well as a generous dessert selection. All meals are prepared freshly on site.
The club stocks a fine selection of medium and upper-shelf beers, wines, liquor, and spirits. All drinks are complimentary. In addition, the primeclass Lounge offers handcrafted coffee drinks, which are elegantly served on bespoke porcelain trays. All food and beverages are available around the clock.
Guests who wish to freshen up will find spacious and well-appointed shower suites with a rain shower and a toilet Towels and bath amenities are provided.
The primeclass Lounge also offers an array of a-la-carte spa treatments. Prices start at OMR 10 ($26 USD). There are also complimentary electric massage chairs.
A large entertainment zone offers a vast array of options for guests of all ages. The bright and bold “sports lounge” sponsored by Pepsi features six large flat-screen TVs, two foosball tables, and various other games. The adjoining billiards room boasts two pool tables and a buffet with bar food favorites such as chicken wings and nuggets.
Additional entertainment options come in the form of “surprise and delight” events, which include white-cloth dinner service for Valentine’s, and dancing on New Year’s Eve. There is also live music at peak hours—the lounge has its own grand piano!
The most remarkable amenity is undoubtedly the eight hotel-style private bedrooms. Located near the quiet zone, each luxuriously-appointed room is outfitted with a double bed, a dresser, a desk, a TV, and a full ensuite bathroom with a rain shower. Just like traditional hotel rooms, the private resting suites are stocked with grooming amenities including a toothbrush, dental kit, and a comb. Guests receive a key card and have full in-and-out privileges for the duration of their stay.
The private rooms at the primeclass Muscat Lounge are available on a complimentary basis to all guests who stay in the club longer than three hours. Be sure to inquire early as the rooms are coveted, especially overnight. TAV gives priority to Meet&Greet customers, who are essentially guaranteed a room. All other patrons can request a room on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Technically, Priority Pass members can only use the lounge for three hours and thus are not eligible for a room. However, guests are welcome to swipe their card multiple times for three-hour increments. Another creative option is to use multiple Priority Pass memberships.
Families will find a colorful play room for kids, and can retire to one of six dedicated family rooms, which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Elegantly decorated with a touch of local flair, these private havens are outfitted with couches and a TV, as well as individual light and temperature controls. The family rooms do not have ensuite bathrooms or a bed, but they’re available to all guests regardless of the length of their stay.
Business amenities include two conference rooms for up to 10 attendees, complimentary printing services, and fast Wi-Fi.
Other amenities include a smoking room, electronic bag lockers, men’s and women’s prayer rooms, and complimentary access to an online library of press and magazines.
