The Sumaq VIP Lounge and Business Center at Lima’s Jorge Chavez Airport is an airline-independent club operated by the airport. Most airlines contract the Sumaq VIP Lounge for their premium class and elite passengers, so the club is a popular place around the clock. In addition, the lounge welcomes all passengers, regardless of their airline and class of service, for a fee.
Sumaq VIP Lounge and Business Center LIM design
The first impressions are mixed. The main room, located immediately behind the reception desk, can feel somewhat depressing, with a dark, old fashioned décor and an overall bland design. The effect is compounded by the overall lack of daylight: the space lacks windows, and the only daylight comes from the adjacent patio. The lounge was probably meant to feel posh when it was designed, but it’s in need of a refresh.
The main room is divided into three zones: a TV area with deep theater style reclining chairs, a dining area flanked by a buffet, and a bar area. The furniture is comfortable but layout is pretty tight and affords limited privacy overall. At peak departure times, the Sumaq VIP Lounge becomes painfully crowded, and finding a seat can be a challenge.
Adjacent is a “patio” or more specifically a room with an open roof and lawn furniture. The setup has a certain charm and is more sparsely furnished than the main area, affording additional privacy. Yet, the lack of views is unfortunate and the chairs are only mildly comfortable. Note that the area is designated as non-smoking.
Power outlets are a scarce resource, though they can be found along the walls and on the ground in the TV area.
Sumaq VIP Lounge and Business Center LIM amenities
A darker slumber room features five day beds – while it’s a convenient amenity for flights departing at odd hours (the lounge is open 24 hours a day), realistically the chances of being able to snag a bed are slim.
The business center has a few shared computers as well as work desks. The room is hardly visually appealing, but it’s quiet and relatively private.
The buffet offers a selection of snacks and finger food. A highlight is the selection of fresh juices. Patrons may even make their very own fresh orange juice by throwing oranges into a robot. Soda is available from self-serve coolers, including the local Inka Cola, which is perhaps an acquired taste but certainly worth a try. There are also two espresso machines.
Complimentary alcoholic beverages, including Pisco Sour are, available from the bar.
A few basic, but clean and functional shower rooms are available. Toiletries and towels are provided. Inquire with the receptionist as there may be a wait, especially ahead of evening flights in the hot season.
Sumaq VIP Lounge and Business Center LIM bottom line
Overall, the Sumaq VIP Lounge and Business Center at Lima International Airport is a mildly attractive but well-appointed facility with comfortable seating, showers, and a slumber room.
Unfortunately, the dimensions of the space are insufficient for the number of patrons, and the club is often hectic and painfully crowded. If you happen to be a Priority Pass or Lounge Club member, consider using the adjacent VIP Club Lounge, which is lager, quieter and offers virtually the same amenities.
- The slumber room.
- The patio area.
- The slightly tired décor.
- The crowds at peak times.
- The lack of views and limited natural light.

Overall ratings
Large space with plenty of seating did not accept regular priority card but accepted American Express priority pass card for the Plaza premium access .buffet was plentiful and tasty fresh squeezed orange juice s bonus
The nicest lounge I’ve been in. Plenty of seating, plenty of food, sleeping area. It doesn’t match the photos so I think it was recently updated- it is very clean.
