Heading home from almost 2 weeks in France and we decided to visit the lounge instead of just sitting around in the airport. We did the same thing on our way to France, and unfortunately we don’t have status on American so we simply purchased day passes. We had zero problem doing so at O’hare. When we got to the American lounge at CDG, they told us they were unable to sell us a day pass due to COVID, then quickly changed their reasoning to be ‘overcrowding’ saying the lounge is very busy today. I asked why I am able to purchase day passes online if they’re not able to sell me one, and they said ‘well if you buy one online, we’d have to accept it.’ So they made me stand in the lobby for 15 minutes, purchasing a day pass for myself and one for my guest, before letting us in. The most hilarious part? The lounge was only MAYBE one quarter full with a large number of open seats and tables. The level of service is obviously not up to par as many of the available seats and tables were dirty, with empty plates and cups or garbage lying around. TL;DR I guess don’t waste your time or effort trying to get into this club, especially when they tell you you’re not welcome, because it’s not much better than sitting at your gate in the airport!
