The MasterCard Business Lounge is one of the only two clubs at at Bucharest Otopeni airport. TAROM, the national airline, operates their flagship lounge for SkyTeam passengers, while the MasterCard lounge serves the credit card issuer’s premium Romanian customers in addition to Business class passengers on several airlines.
The lounge is located towards the back of the international departure area, by gates 7 and 8, on a mezzanine overlooking the concourse. The checkin process may be a bit slow as the agent is required to copy flight details to an invitation card.
MasterCard Business Lounge OTP design
Despite being located on a mezzanine, the club is very quiet. The light-filled space features tall ceilings and expansive views of the tarmac through the glass wall. On the flip side, so much glass means that the lounge gets painfully hot when it is sunny outside.
The design is modern and open, with designer furniture including Hjellegjerde recliners, indoor plants, a small living wall, and numerous light fixtures. Various seating areas cater to every need, with dining tables by the buffet, lounge chairs, bar-like seating, a TV lounge, and high-backed chairs providing ample privacy. Power outlets are readily available throughout, either in side tables or on the ground. While the space is MasterCard branded — with a prominent oversized card and a few ads — the branding remains sufficiently discreet that it does not interfere with the business-like atmosphere.
MasterCard Business Lounge OTP amenities
The oversized buffet features basic snacks (chips, packaged crackers and waffles), an espresso machine, self-serve wine and alcoholic drinks, as well as coolers with soda, mineral water, milk and yoghurt. Overall, it’s a simple affair but we appreciate the wide range of soft drinks and the glass bottles.
Through a partnership with Asus and Microsoft Romania, the lounge provides self-service Windows PCs and tablets, although none were functioning when we visited. On the down side, the lounge doesn’t have its own Wi-Fi network, and patrons have to connect to the complimentary but borderline unusable airport Wi-Fi, which can be a frustrating experience.
A smoking room is located by the reception desk. Surprisingly the lounge does not have a bathroom, but a public bathroom is located immediately outside.
MasterCard Business Lounge OTP bottom line
Overall, the MasterCard Business Lounge at Bucharest airport is a pleasant lounge to wait for a flight in a quiet and private environment, although the lack of proper Wi-Fi and limited food options may be underwhelming.
- The bright and spacious layout providing ample privacy.
- The comfortable furniture.
- The lack of a proper Wi-Fi connection.
- The limited food options.
- The lack of bathroom.

Also access for eligible customers traveling with British Airways.
MasterCard Business Class international is closed since 3years. You can use the TAROM Lounge.
Silly romanian rules – romanian issued master card!?! But the lounge is “international”. It’s NATIONAL, considering the toilet is in the backyard.
Food non existent – only junk food.
Very bad! No food (just chips, waffles and nuts).Too noisy due to the inconing noise from the gates. No toilets.
Only accepts Romanian mastercards. :)) A waste of airport terminal space.
A romanian type of mastercard lounge. Foreign gold cards are not accepted :)))
A quiet and pleasant lounge, but don’t expect real food- and there should really be a bathroom.
