As a section of the THAI Royal Silk lounge, the Royal First zone benefits from all the advantages of the business class lounge, including its spacious, bright and airy layout, terrific views on the tarmac, and vintage point on Hong Kong airport’s signature soaring wavy ceilings. The Royal Silk lounge also boasts a range of enjoyable amenities, including a generous and elegantly laid out buffet, showers, a TV lounge, a video game zone, a large business center, and a selection of magazines.
The Royal First Lounge area is elegantly appointed with leather armchairs, and features a small buffet with snacks and an enhanced selection of alcoholic beverages. Indoor plants and orchids add a classy touch to the space. Patrons may also use a massage chair in an adjacent booth.
However, while the space is pretty attractive, it is small and doesn’t feel private or exclusive. Business class passengers can easily peek into the First Class section, and it probably wouldn’t be too challenging to sneak in either. Noise from the concourse and the business class section may also bleed in. Beyond a slightly more secluded seating area and additional drinks, the THAI Royal First Lounge doesn’t offer additional amenities.
Overall, the THAI Royal First Lounge at Hong Kong airport is a mixed bag. The space is pleasant and well appointed, but the lack of privacy and dedicated services and amenities make the lounge one of the weaker First Class offerings in Hong Kong. Within Star Alliance, United operates a nearby dedicated United Global First Lounge, while over in oneworld, Cathay Pacific indulges their First Class passengers with some of the world’s finer facilities. Ultimately, the THAI Royal First Lounge is a token offering which mostly aims at providing First Class passengers with a more comfortable place to sit.
- The bright and airy space.
- The views on the tarmac.
- The elegant furniture and design.
- The lack of privacy.
- The limited amenities.
Overall ratings
The first lounge is to the right side after passing the front desk. Interior is ok and lounge was empty.
Only a small buffet with some fruits and chips. Food has to be ordered from the menu and is brought to your table. Selection of beverages was underwhelming for a First Class Lounge – no champagne and also very little choice of alcoholic beverages. Foodwise I recommend to get yourself something from the buffet in the business class section.
Free WIFI, very good selection of newspapers and magazines, 2 massage chairs. Business centre and restrooms are shared with the business lounge.
I love most part of this lounge although they used part of the business lounge turn it into first class lounge. Seating and amenities are pretty much the same as the business class. Only differents are hardly anyone in there compare to almost full house at business section and it has an a la carte menu with very limited selections. Of course you can get whatever you want from the business class buffet also.
