Opened mid-2014 as part of United’s consolidation within Terminal B, the spacious United Club at Boston Logan airport occupies a prime location overlooking the runway.
The United Club welcomes members, one-time pass holders, Star Alliance Gold members traveling internationally, as well as Business Class passengers traveling to San Francisco on United’s Premium Service, the airline’s flagship transcontinental product featuring flat beds in Business Class.
United Club BOS design
Situated on the upper level of the Terminal B concourse near gate 24, the United Club at Boston Logan airport is a short walk from the security checkpoint, and steps away from the boarding gates. An elevator whisks guests to a large lobby where cheerful agents promptly direct patrons to the adjacent lounge area.
Bathed in daylight, the expansive and pristine space boasts 180-degree panoramic views over the tarmac from three window walls. The open layout helps maximize natural light, while glass and mesh dividers that carve out more intimate areas. Clean lines and designer lighting shape out a resolutely modern and functional ensemble.
Next to the lobby is a comfortable seating zone outfitted with side tables and power and USB outlets. Guests tend to congregate there, so make your way to the other end of the lounge for more personal space. There is plenty more seating, including convivial egg chairs, communal work tables, dining tables, and high-top seating with a front-row view on the tarmac.
The focal point of the design is the dramatic bar at the center of the lounge, with the tarmac as the backdrop. Designer light fixtures and golden hues on the ceiling break up an otherwise monochrome and minimalist décor.
The lounge invites guest to a trip down the memory lane with black and white pictures of vintage United aircraft, and a nod to the pinnacle of technology, with Boeing 787-shaped mirrors in the bathroom.
United Club BOS amenities
The United Club at Boston airport features a typical line-up of amenities, including a cold buffet, reading materials, and work spaces.
The buffet spread includes snacks, a salad bar, soups, cheese, bread, a couple hot entrees, and sweets. On the drinks front, guests will find a hydration station with infused water, tea, espresso machines and drip coffee, and a Coca-Cola freestyle machine.
House wines, Prosecco, and well liquor is complimentary at the bar, while premium drinks are available for purchase.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout. Two spacious and fully-enclosed phone rooms offer a private retreat for phone calls or impromptu meetings. Adjacent is a copier, fax and scanner.
Other amenities include a family restroom, a selection of newspapers and magazines, as well as complimentary access to the Foli digital press kiosk.
United Club BOS bottom line
Design-wise, the United Club is one of the most stylish, comfortable, and luminous lounges at Boston Logan airport. The club occupies a prime location overlooking the runway, with floor-to-ceiling windows along most of the perimeter offering guests permanent vistas. The modern design combines ergonomic furniture, well-appointed work spaces, and outlets at every seat.
The amenities are consistent with United’s product—the focus is on the basics, with an enjoyable buffet spread, fast Wi-Fi, and a bar.
The plans that United filed with Massport prior to building the lounge calls for a possible future open-air terrace atop the terminal building, in the vein of the deck at the Los Angeles United Club. It’s unclear if the idea will ever materialize—and if Boston’s weather makes the concept a realistic endeavor—but an outdoor space would certainly add cachet to an already enjoyable lounge.
- The striking space and views on the runways.
- The well-appointed seating areas and work spaces.
- The private phone rooms.
