United Club – PHL

Overview Food & Beverages Airlines Access rules Reviews Foursquare tips Comments

Ah, the United Club at Philadelphia Airport. Ring the bell to enter, and then prepare to experience a blast from the past. Old furniture, wooden panels, lamps that were probably designed in the 70s, and old-style CRT information screens. Some will find the space charming; most will probably find it depressing, especially when the club is crowded, which tends to happen on a regular basis due to the small size of the space. The insufficient or inoperative air conditioning adds a special touch to the overall experience.

The few amenities include a recently renovated bathroom, an old-fashioned wooden bar (which may fit better in a pub than in an airport lounge), and a few work cubicles. The food and drink selection are in line with the standard domestic United Club offer: continental breakfast and limited basic snacks.

The bottom line on the United Club at Philadelphia Airport: if you’re a United Club member or are flying on a premium fare, this is merely a place to sit with complimentary coffee and Wi-Fi. We wish there were alternative options, but unfortunately there are none at this time. If you’re thinking of purchasing access, don’t.

The pluses
  • The charming old fashioned bar.
The minuses
  • The dated facility and furniture.
  • The lack of power outlets.
  • The crowds.
