American Airlines Admirals Club – LAX T4

Note: The American Airlines Admirals Club at Los Angeles Airport Terminal 4 is currently undergoing renovations. The club is currently open, but some areas may be closed. The lounge will close as of September 4th, 2017 for further remodeling. During construction, passengers will be invited to use the new Admirals Club in Terminal 5, which is scheduled to open late August.

American Airlines operates a total of three lounges at Los Angeles International airport. The American Airlines Admirals Club in Terminal 4 serves the bulk of the airline’s passengers, while a much smaller but newly renovated club serves the remote Terminal 4 commuter facility. In addition, a Flagship Lounge (international first class lounge) is located within the main club.

The enormous lounge is located on a mezzanine overlooking the concourse. After checking in, make your way upstairs where you’ll hit a large customer service area, should you need any travel assistance. From there, the lounge seems to expand in virtually every direction.

The main seating area boasts huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering expansive views on the tarmac. Curved ceilings and light wood paneling accentuate the feeling of space. For plane lovers, it’s paradise, and for everyone else, a chance to soak into the Los Angeles sunlight in a dynamic environment up until departure time. Power outlets are conveniently located at every seat.

On a less positive note, the open seating arrangement affords little privacy, and the lounge can get busy. If you need a more secluded environment, make your way away from the windows: the adjacent rooms next to the customer service area are typically quieter.

American Airlines Admirals Club amenities

A large bar offers a wide selection of drinks and cocktails. Espresso, flavored water and tea are also available. However, just at like all other Admirals Clubs, only house wine and spirits are complimentary. International premium passengers receive a coupon for a premium drink. Food wise, a paltry selection of complimentary basic snacks is available, while a somewhat expansive menu is available for order from the bar at a cost.

A business center is available, with work cubicles, a printer/fax/photocopier, and shared computers. Samsung Galaxy tablets are also located throughout the lounge.

A fun kids’ room features colorful furniture, toys, and computers with videogames. There is also a TV lounge.

Several spacious shower suites are available and can be reserved from the reception desk — a welcome treat prior to, or at the conclusion of a long flight.

American Airlines Admirals Club bottom line

Overall, the American Airlines Admirals Club at LAX T4 is a nice lounge with a solid range of amenities. However, it gets extremely busy at peak times and the constant motion and noise in the main room somewhat diminish the appeal of the bright and airy space.

The Admirals Club in the remote terminal is significantly quieter, though it’s also extremely small, and a bus ride away. Also, premium class and elite passengers have access to the superior oneworld lounge in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, though getting there does involve leaving the secure area and enduring either a bus ride or a somewhat unpleasant walk. It may be worth the trek if you have a long layover.
