Reaching the Lufthansa First Class Dining area at New York JFK is akin to reaching the pinnacle. The fortunate First Class and HON Circle guests enter Lufthansa’s three story lounge complex immediately outside security, then ride an elevator to the top, elevating themselves above the Business Lounge (on the ground floor) and Senator Lounge (on the second floor.)
Design and amenities
Perched at the top on a mezzanine overlooking the Senator Lounge below, the First Class lounge — officially dubbed Wining and Dining area — brings Lufthansa’s signature design and renowned service to the US. The facility is currently unique in America: while Lufthansa operates Business and Senator Lounges in Washington, DC, Detroit, MI and Newark, NJ, the First Class room is a JFK exclusive.
The small lounge doesn’t pretend to offer the breath of services offered at the airline’s first class facilities at the Frankfurt or Munich hubs. The concept aims at providing First Class passengers with a private dining experience, while most amenities are available a level below in the Senator Lounge.
The space may be small, but Lufthansa does not compromise on service and quality. Guests will find Lufthansa’s signature First Class furniture in a serene area, dining tables outfitted with tablecloth and flowers, and a luxurious buffet prepared by gourmet caterer DO & CO. The selection includes tasty appetizers, cold and hot entrees, and desserts in addition to a wide array of self-serve premium alcoholic beverages. Servers are available to mix drinks and assist guests.
Lufthansa First Class Dining JFK bottom line
Lufthansa’s First class facilities never disappoint. The beautiful Lufthansa First Class Lounge New York JFK offers a high-end, private dining experience. Guests can then choose to enjoy the more spacious Senator Lounge located one level below, which offers great views on the tarmac as well as large shower suites.
- The elegant and cozy design.
- The calm and privacy.
- The high quality food and drink selection.
- The personal and attentive service.
- The small size of the area (but guests have access to the much larger seating area in the Senator Lounge.)

Overall ratings
This is an excellent facility, but it obviously cannot compete with a true five star dedicated lounge.
This lounge is on the upper level of the Lufthansa lounges at JFK airport. You enter on the first floor where the entrance with the reception and the Business lounge are located and then go by elevator (or stairs) via the second floor (Senator Lounge) to the First Lounge which is like a gallery to the Senator lounge. You have a great view of the apron with the airplanes. The lounge however is not really spacious with a small seating area and a bar in the front and a restaurant in the back, divided by the buffet. Staff was polite but that was all.
Excellent choice of food (a la carte or buffet) and enormous selection of beverages. Perfect!
Free Wifi. Selection of newspapers and magazines was ok, but much better downstairs in the Senator Lounge. TV-room, restrooms and showers are also located in the Senator Lounge.
