The SWISS First Lounge at New York JFK airport caters exclusively to SWISS First Class passengers and Miles&More HON members. First Class passengers on other Star Alliance airlines may use the adjacent SWISS Lounge.
SWISS First Lounge JFK design
The SWISS First Lounge sports the airline’s signature design with a wall made of Jura stone, black and white tones, and Vitra designer seats. The space is modern and simple with clean lines, a tad minimalist, but warm and cozy with hardwood floors and elegant carpets.
The spacious and comfortable seats offer plenty of privacy, with large coffee tables and floor standing lamps that double as informal dividers. Unfortunately, power outlets are lacking overall.
The floor to ceiling window lets plenty of natural light in and offers view on the bustling tarmac.
SWISS First Lounge JFK amenities
The SWISS First Lounge features an elegant separate dining area with a couple tables with tablecloth setup for two. Unfortunately, though, the food spread is decidedly basic, with snacks and a small selection of cold and hot appetizers and entrees around meal times — a far cry from to what SWISS offers to First Class passengers at its Zurich hub.
In our opinion, the selection doesn’t qualify as a substitute for a meal, which is unfortunate because flights from JFK to western Europe tend to be very short, and passengers would probably appreciate the option to dine on a ground in order to maximize sleep on board. The drink selection is more generous, with an assortment of wines and liquor.
A quiet area is equipped with a handful of comfortable massage chairs. Showers are also available in the adjacent Business Lounge.
Ultimately, the amenities fail to impress. The key perk of the SWISS First Lounge is the privacy that it offers compared to the Business Class lounge which is often crowded.
SWISS First Lounge JFK bottom line
Overall, the SWISS First Lounge at New York JFK provides a tranquil haven away from the crowds with a serene design and an opportunity to relax and grab a bite to eat.
However, we can’t help but find ourselves slightly underwhelmed, especially when over in Terminal 1, Lufthansa, a fellow Star Alliance and Lufthansa Group member, offers First Class passengers and HON members a luxurious dining experience in a secluded area with an expansive buffet, waiter service, and linen. Unfortunately, Terminal 1 is off-limits to SWISS passengers due to TSA restrictions at JFK.
- The serenity of the space.
- The massage chairs.
- The underwhelming food selection.
Overall ratings
Good looking space, but for a first class lounge, it’s a tad disappointing.
