United Club – Houston Intercontinental (IAH) Terminal B
The key elements of the design are typical former Continental President’s Clubs, with dark wood panels and light beige furniture which create a warm but old fashioned – should we say dated? – environment.
The layout of the Terminal B club is pretty unique, with a maze of small private rooms with seating for 10-20 patrons in addition to a larger seating and dining area. It is likely that the design was created back in the day to provide customers with an elevated level of privacy in a posh and exclusive surroundings. Time has passed, however, and with a constant increase in air traffic, the club has become painfully overcrowded and is currently woefully inadequate at peak times. The formerly private spaces have turned stuffy and claustrophobic, and finding a seat is often a challenge.
The lack of windows doesn’t help: while the bar area benefits from natural light (although the views on the airport access road are rather underwhelming) the seating areas are dark and windowless.

The food and beverage offering is in line with what United offers at domestic club locations. Continental breakfast is served in the morning, followed by snacks, soups and salads throughout the day. The menu rotates every season and the selection is palatable, though it’s no substitute for a meal. On the drinks front, soft drinks, house wines and well drinks are complimentary, while premium drinks can be purchased.
Work cubicles with power outlets are available. There is also an open baggage storage section as well as small lockers for personal items – the area is under used and could benefit from being converted into additional seating.
Just like the rest of the club, the bathroom is severely under dimensioned – with just two stalls and one urinal in the men’s room.

Overall, the United Club at Houston Bush airport Terminal B is an outdated facility. While the lounge was probably originally designed with an emphasis on elegance and privacy, it simply doesn’t meet current demands.
The lack of real estate combined with an underwhelming list of amenities makes this location our least favorite at IAH overall. If time permits, take the airside train to the nearby Concourse A or Concourse C locations.

- Star Alliance Gold Members (except United Premier members and above) departing on a domestic or international flight operated by a Star Alliance carrier in any class of service (+1 guest)
- United Club one-time pass holders (subject to capacity restrictions) (no guests)
- Active U.S. military personnel departing on a same day United flight (+family members)
- Air Canada Maple Leaf Club members departing on a flight operated by a Star Alliance carrier (no guests for Air Canada Maple Leaf Club North America members, +1 guest for Air Canada Maple Leaf Club Worldwide members)

- Passengers in domestic First class do not receive United Club access. United Business passengers flying on a Premium Service flight between San Francisco/Boston, San Francisco/Newark, or Los Angeles/Newark receive access at the origin and destination of their premium transcontinental flight.

Overall ratings
Entrance looks classy and upscale, but the main area where you actually go is crowded and noisy. The bar predominates with the usual loud patrons showing off their tats and chatting up the bartender. Limited choices in food, with no ingredients labelled or marked on anything. Tea/hot water station was over in the far corner, necessitating walking across the room through others who were sitting on high stools at mini tables. There are separate quiet rooms but the chairs are uncomfortable as none have head/neck rests or foot rests. Zero lighting in the bathroom makes it very difficult to apply makeup. I paid the $59 USD thinking that I was going to get a few hours to rest and recharge, but was disappointed.
Breakfast sucks! No bagels, no toaster, no eggs. Just cold cereal & yogurt.
