United Global First Lounge
- Complimentary cold buffet
- Complimentary hot buffet
- Complimentary full bar
The fact that this lounge remains open probably highlights the amount of premium traffic that JFK continue to attract, and which justifies the transcontinental p.s. (Premium Services) routes to San Francisco and Los Angeles featuring flat beds in business class.
Nowadays, this lounge serves United’s Global Services members (the airline’s top spenders) as well as the smaller group of passengers whose itinerary includes a segment in Global First. As such, it sees relatively little traffic compared to the adjacent United Club and remains private and quiet.
The privacy and great views probably make up for the overall outdated décor and furniture, though a minor highlight is the former “Westin Renewal Lounge” area with an LED candle wall designed by Westin back in the day when the hotel chain had a partnership with United.
Food and beverages tend to be a step above what is on offer at the nearby United Club. The selection varies — United used to offer a full complimentary buffet with appetizers, cold entrees, snacks, and a full bar, although it appears that lately the offer has been downgraded.
Ultimately, the United Global First Lounge at New York JFK is still a private haven away from the rundown terminal. Incidentally JFK is the only airport where United offers a lounge for connecting Global First passengers. While amenities are limited, there are no alternative lounges available as the other Star Alliance operated lounges are located in separate terminals.
