The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Frankfurt airport Concourse B near gate B43 serves most non-Schengen flights (except those departing to the US, Israel, and select other destinations.)
The Senator lounge welcomes Miles&More Senator members, Star Alliance Gold members, Star Alliance First Class customers. Business Class passengers may use one of the two Business Class lounges near gates B24 and B44.

The Senator Lounge at Frankfurt airport near gate B43 isn’t the newest or the largest—the Senator Lounge by gate Z50 holds both distinctions—but it is the best appointed overall. Make your way upstairs, check in with the friendly attendant right outside the door, and check out the surroundings: this isn’t your typical lounge.

The most striking feature is the City Lights bar, a space that’s completely unique within the Lufthansa network, featuring cushy furniture, designer coffee tables, dim lighting, hardwood floors and carpets, flanked by huge letters spelling out the words “City Lights.” The centerpiece is the staffed bar, where you may order the beverage of your choice, from a handcrafted espresso drink to a more spiced concoction. The ambiance is relaxed, cozy and serene, and a welcome change from the otherwise relatively cookie cutter décor. The space would be perfect if it were not for the complete lack of power outlets.
Behind the City Lights bar is a comfortable and spacious seating area where every seat is outfitted with a side table, a lamp which functions as an informal divider, and a power outlet. The earth tones create a subdued and relaxing ambiance, and large windows let plenty of natural light and offer great views of the tarmac. A partition blocks noise from the adjacent dining area. With plenty of buffer between seats, the space offers a fair amount of privacy and never gets excessively busy.

A handful of reclining chairs by the window invite patrons to relax while gazing at the tarmac. The setup isn’t as elaborate or private as at the newer Senator Lounges, where relaxation areas are spruced up with pictures of forest scenery, but nothing beats a good tarmac view.
Next to the lobby is a large dining area with a variety of seating arrangements including traditional dining tables, table top seating, and booths. It’s a comfortable place to dine and work, though again, the absence of power outlets is a unfortunate oversight.

As an international business class departure lounge, the Lufthansa Senator Lounge offers a wide range of amenities.

The buffet offers a generous selection of snacks, appetizers, cold and hot entrees, and desserts. The breakfast spread includes scrambled eggs with chives and tomatoes, pastries, cereal, muesli, and fruit salad. The vast assortment of drinks includes soft drinks, German beer, wines, Champagnes, and a selection of liquor. The buffet is refreshed on ongoing basis and is substantial enough for a meal on the ground.
Need to freshen up? The lounge offers well-appointed shower suites, which come with a shower, toilet, sink, towels and bath amenities such as a toothbrush, razor and moisturizer. Inquire early as there may be a waitlist.
A business center features individual workstations with power outlets and wired network connectivity. A printer is also available.

Weary travelers will appreciate the dark slumber room outfitted with day beds with pillows and blankets. Privacy is somewhat limited and noise may bleed in, but the amenity is convenient for some quick shuteye.
The Senator Lounge near gate B43 also offers a unique concept in the Lufthansa network: the Senator Spa, a space where patrons may receive brief treatments. The services aren’t complimentary, however: the Spa is merely a convenience run by a third party in collaboration with the airline. On the flip side, should you actually desire a treatment, an appointment is likely to be available, unlike at lounges with free spas.
Other amenities include secure lockers for carry-on bags, newspapers and magazines, and a smoking room.

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Frankfurt airport Concourse B near gate B43 is an excellent upper-scale business class lounge with a unique design, a complete array of amenities, and a number of luxurious touches such as the slumber room, staffed bar and barista service.
Like most Senator Lounges, it is relatively busy at peak times, and as a First Class lounge for Star Alliance carriers, it doesn’t deliver the degree of privacy that we’d expect (note that Lufthansa’s own First Class passengers have access to the ultra-high-end First Class Terminal instead.) For business class, though, the experience doesn’t get much better.

- The lack of power outlets in the dining area.
- The crowds at peak times.

- Star Alliance First Class passengers departing the same day. (Arriving passengers are not eligible unless they have an onwards connection.)
- Miles & More Senator members departing or arriving on a same-day Lufthansa, Star Alliance or codeshare partner flight (Air Dolomiti, Air Malta, Eurowings, LATAM Brasil.)
- Star Alliance Gold passengers departing on the same day on a Star Alliance flight in any class of service. (Arriving passengers are not eligible unless they have an onwards connection.)
- Eurowings SMART and BEST fare passengers who also hold Miles&More HON or Senator status departing on a same-day flight (no guests.)
- Eurowings passengers who also hold Star Alliance Gold status with United or ANA departing on a same-day flight (no guests.)

Unfriendly LH lounge personnel always makes up lies/rules on the fly to deny access. Husband traveled business class from US to UAE, is a lifetime Star Alliance gold and was denied access. This is not the first time that LH has made up rules on the fly (or lied about reason for bumping a paying biz class traveler for flight crew or LH employees going on vacation. No joke!).
Continuing flight was LH coded, flight had been booked on Air Canada, all airlines on the entire route are listed as LH star alliance airlines, so what gives? Maybe the color of my husband’s skin since I have seen comments of travelers using UA gold status to access as they are supposed to be able to.
Nice for a departure on the evening during the week. quite and not to full. little hot/cold buffet but also good.
Modern and bright lounge with fantasic apron view and very nice interior. Plenty of seating in many different areas. Best place is by the large windows of course, even better if you can get one of the relax chairs there.
Selection of food was ok, choice of beverages was good – including a very nice bar called city lights. As a special treat they had a currywurst booth while we visited.
Free Wifi, selection of newspapers and magazines. There is a Senator Spa where you can get treatments – not for free however. Restrooms are very nice and also many showers available.
An excellent lounge with a unique amenity, the City Lights bar. More power outlets and it’d be five stars.

Quite big, very empty in the early morning. Nice design of the interior.
Perfect view to apron.
Sparkling wine at the bar is much better (cooler) then at the food area. Food is Senatorlounge standard, but the bar is above standard.
