United Club EWR design
The design is unremarkable — the décor dates from the Continental Presidents Club days and feels plain and dated — but the long window wall offers good views of the tarmac and lets plenty of natural light in. A large hallway with a marble floor separates the seating area from the business center. Low partitions and indoor plants break out the space into smaller sections. At the very end of the room on the left side is a sizeable bar area, while on the right side is the buffet with a few dining tables. Power outlets are few and far between, located mainly along the window.
The United Club at Newark Airport by gate C120 one of United’s largest lounges worldwide. Yet, as it turns out, Newark is also a major hub. While the United Club is an enjoyable, quiet place at the wee hours of the mornings, it turns into a zoo as international flights arrive and depart. It is not a pretty picture—at peak times, there is a line to check-in at the reception desk, and one may have a hard time finding a seat. Finding two seats together is an even tougher challenge, and locating a seat by the window with a power outlet may just be mission impossible.
United Club EWR amenities
As a former Continental hub lounge, the United Club offers a somewhat expansive set of amenities, including a large theater-style TV room and a family room. Business travelers will find a myriad of work cubicles with power outlets which, while dark, are reasonably secluded and private.
The highlight is the shower suites. Each spacious suite comes with a sink, shower and toilet and offers plenty of space to change. Towels and basic amenities are provided. While the design is perhaps somewhat utilitarian, the facilities are clean, effective, and enjoyable. They’re popular, too, so be sure to inquire early as there is typically a waitlist.
The United Club offers United’s recently enhanced food and beverage selection, with continental breakfast in the morning and snacks, soups, salads, and treats throughout the day. Well drinks and house wines are complimentary. While selection is suitable for a substantial snack, it is hardly a substitute for a meal, which is unfortunate for international travelers – passengers on short flights between Newark and Europe may prefer to eat on the ground in order to maximize sleep time in the air.
United Club EWR bottom line
The United Club at New York/Newark Liberty Airport by gate C120 disappoints. Despite a few quality amenities such as the shower suites, the lounge fails to provide the privacy or environment that premium class travelers would expect.
Newark clubs are about to be renovated. In the short term, however, crowding is bound to get worse as United closes portions of the club in preparation for the transition into a new United Polaris Lounge for international business class passengers. The airline has opened a new pop-up lounge by gate C124 in an effort to offer overflow space. Passengers wishing for a quieter hectic environment may choose to use the United Club by gate C74 instead. Patrons who have ample time may even consider taking the airside shuttle over to Terminal A where the much quieter and freshly remodeled United Club for regional flights.

Overall ratings
Absolutely appaling experience. Understaffed ba and limited choice of drinks. The food choice was even worse. United Airlines your service provision and the customer experience both in the lounge and in the air is shameful. I will not be using your company again and will encourage others to consider their options very carefully.
The showers which seemed to be the highlight are closed!
I am United MasterCard holder and am traveling with 2 kids 12 and 8. I have 2 passes that expire in 3 weeks and have 2 hours to kill. The very condescending woman at the counter gave me 1 look up and down and said I have only 2 passes and wouldn’t let me in. She reeked of attitude and was so unbelievably snobby! What a racket!!
United Club one-time passes are valid for one person only, no matter their age. The terms and conditions are spelled out on the passes.
Looking forward to a relaxing lay over of 6 Hours but unfortuantely our intentions were cut short when the receptionist (staff) were rude, unfriendly and un helpful.
Never have I experienced such low level service in my travels and frown upon the Newark airport United Club.
I will never step foot inside this club again.
Looks like United Airlines needs follow up with this United Club and their staff.
I starts
People at the front desk are the rudest and unfriendly group that I have come across in my travels the last 11 years.
Will never go back to this United Club. Wasted my second of two coupons that I received when I got my United credit card
Zero stars
Worst place to visit. No professional person in there.
No more going to fly by united airlines.
Pay so much money for first class and United complimentary room u have to pay for drinks + free food only soups and vegetables and water for spend $4000.00 tickets
I will change all my credit card to capital one because united geve 1 points for spending one dollar,,capital one gives you 2 points.
I use united credit card a lot for simple I have for last 2 years
1.780..000.00 miles. I guess. United don’t makes any money
From that.
Have to pay extra for “premium” brands. Food is nothing short of appalling (when I visited, some form of soup, Pitta bread, carrot, lettuce, chocolate biscuits and nuts. Is this the contents of someone’s trash bin?). Have to fight for a seat. A miserable and dreary experience considering the cost. Would give it no stars but the bar staff are upbeat. Wi-fi doesn’t allow streaming video.
a seat would be a good start, none available after 10 am on most days. the showers are great, when they are not all in use.
We’d love to give this club two stars as we believe that the ability to find a seat should be a requirement, but we’re adding one star for the showers. 2.5 would be the proper rating 🙂
