Lufthansa has unveiled a new “combi-lounge” in Newark, which includes a 60 seat Business Lounge and a 69-seat Senator Lounge. The facilities, located in terminal B, feature Lufthansa’s gorgeous latest lounge design as well as great views of the airfield.
The fact that the Senator Lounge is slightly larger than the Business Class lounge is notable — it is most likely driven by the fact that Senator Lounges welcome Star Gold members, which are probably rather numerous at a major international gateway.
The lounges will serve the airlines of the Lufthansa group, including Lufthansa and SWISS. Technically, they are Star Alliance lounges and all Star Gold passengers holding an onwards boarding pass should have access, but considering that few Star Alliance airlines operate out of Terminal B, these lounges are unlikely to be an alternative to other facilities for most customers.

Lufthansa Business Class Lounge – Newark airport. Flat/non-carbonated Coca-Cola from the soft drink dispenser. Asked for a can of coke, was told there are none. Staff member Marvin was very friendly, went to “the other dispenser” and brought me an equally flat Coke. At least he tried. Opened a bottle of beer instead and was enjoying it, only to have it cleared when I still had a quarter of it to go (different staff member). Seriously, if you’re not sure if it’s finished, ask. Crackers, but no cheese… It’s the simple things Lufthansa. Poor form. Fail.
